As I mentioned in my post in the laners lounge, the Disco is for sale. I will be sad to see it go but the time has come to move on! It has been a brilliant offroad vehicle and is great for shifting stuff around.
Advert which I hopefully won't have to put on Ebay:
Mileage: 125,345
Tax: 31/05/14
MOT: 9/12/14
For sale is my 1996 300Tdi Land Rover Discovery which has been my daily driver for the last 3.5 years. It was occasionally used for greenlaning, but as this happens so rarely now I have decided to sell it. The vehicle benefits from a number of modifications to improve its offroad capabilities but without being extreme and making it a handful on the road.
It has been extremely well cared for in my ownership, receiving regular maintenance and servicing every 5,000 miles using only genuine or OEM parts. As a result of this it drives very smoothly with no drivetrain issues or hesitation from the engine. I have never had to top up the oil or coolant between services which is a sign of the engine’s condition. It does sometimes smoke when cold but this always clears within a few seconds of driving. It passed its MOT two months ago with only one advisory for a small rust patch near the offside front body mount. All other areas of significant rust have been repaired over the last few years, removing the biggest problem with the older Discoveries.
I have tried to be as honest as possible with this advert, but there is lots more information available on the vehicle so please don’t hesitate to ask or arrange a viewing. There are receipts for every job carried out in the last 3.5 years and four previous MOT certificates.
Key work:
Both sills fully repaired with box section
All four wheel arches welded
Driver and passenger footwells welded
New rear body crossmember
Complete underseal
NSR wheelbearings (Timken)
Rear brake callipers rebuilt (stainless pistons and genuine seals)
Rear brake pipes
Alarm spider repaired
Brake fluid replacement
All discs and pads replaced (Mintex)
Alternator replaced (Denso OEM)
Timing belt/pulleys/oil seals (Genuine)
Water pump (Airtex OEM)
Modifications:
Hankook Dynamic MT 245/75R16 on silver modular wheels (10mm remaining front and 15mm rear)
Southdown snorkel
2” lift on Bearmach blue springs and DeCarbon shocks
Polybushes in trailing arms and radius arms
Extended bump stops
Extended braided brake hoses
Rock sliders
Steering guard
Tank guard
Heavy duty steering arms
CB radio (Intek M100)
Prosport water temperature gauge
Straight through cat-back exhaust with side exit
Blanked EGR
100W Wipac front spotlights
Extended breathers (axles/gearbox/transfer box/timing cover)
JVC CD player
Bad bits:
Interior is certainly not perfect but it is reasonable for an 18 year old vehicle
No rear windscreen wiper
Bodywork has some fairly significant scratches from greenlining
Handbrake needs cleaning up and adjusting
Rear bumper has been altered to allow fitment of bike rack mount
Different keys for ignition and lock barrel (has remote locking fob so door key never used)
Sunroof sealed shut (so it does not leak)
Misc:
Towbar included but not fitted
Haynes manual included
